Revelation 1 - Part 2
REVELATION 1 Part 2
An Introduction to the 7 Churches of Asia

1. JOHN'S VISION OF THE SON OF MAN 1:12-16
The lampstands symbolize churches as ___________ of the world.  Matthew 5:14-16

The lampstands are golden because _______ was the most precious metal.  The church is God's most ____________ possession on earth as it was bought and paid for by the precious blood of His Son.

The seven churches symbolize _____ churches in general.  These were actual churches in real places, but are symbolic of the kinds of churches that exist through all of church ___________ until Jesus comes again.
Son of Man is a common name for Jesus Christ in the gospels denoting His ____________ as the ______________.

The Son of Man is here pictured as clothed with ___________, awe, and __________.

Christ's robe has a __________ sash around His chest, signifying majesty and __________.

The description of the Son of Man's hair as white like wool and snow is a clear reference to the ____________ of Days (God the Father) in Daniel 7:9.

Christ's ________ is affirmed showing that He possesses the same attributes of holy knowledge and wisdom as the Father.

John also notes that Christ's eyes were like blazing fire.  His righteous and searching gaze penetrates to the very depths of His church.  The red-hot glowing feet of Christ picture Him moving through His church to exercise His holy purging of all that is ________ and false.

Christ's voice was like the sound of rushing waters and out of His mouth came a sharp double-edged sword, signifying the awesome authority, power and _______________ with which He speaks.

The face of the ___________ Christ was too intense for human eyes to look at for it was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

The entire vision is symbolic of Christ, the Holy One, holding the church to ________, commending obedience, condemning disobedience and calling to repentance in hopes they will __________ and be spared His chastening.

That Christ holds the seven churches in His ________ hand symbolizes control and _____________.  Christ, as head over all things to the church, exercises all rule, authority and dominion, putting all things in subjection under His feet.

II.  JOHN'S REACTION TO THE VISION AND CHRIST'S TENDER WORDS OF COMFORT AND INSTRUCTION 1:17-20
For the first time John sees the ____________, Post-incarnate Christ, enthroned in majesty at the right hand of the Father and realizing his sinful unworthiness to be in His Holy presence he falls to the ground as a ______ man out of shear awe and terror.

Jesus is the eternal ______, the First and the Last.

Because Christ _______ we who believe in Him shall ______ also.  Our living souls will one day join the ever-living Christ.

Christ has the ______ of death, that is, He has authority and power over death.  Therefore, death cannot ________ the believer but is his entrance into the presence of God where there will be no more sorrow, no more death.

Hades, like _______ in the Greek, is the place of torment where the lost sinner goes upon ________ with no hope of escape.

Christ has the power to send men to ________ and ________ or to spare men from them.

Angels, "aggelos", can be translated messenger, minister, pastor, depending on the __________.  In the New Testament epistles pastors or elders (not angelic beings) are those responsible for the oversight and care of the ________, Acts 20:28.  So it makes more sense that the seven stars are the ministers or elders of the seven churches rather than literal angels.
