Jesus’ teaching was like a ______ smelling aroma to some, and a ______ to others.

We need to ______ the day seeking the face of our blessed Redeemer in prayer, and listening to Him through His word, as the Holy Spirit gives us ____________.  Proverbs 8:17

The problem isn’t the willingness of Jesus to ______ us but our willingness to take the time to ______ and ______ His teaching to our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.

III. JESUS TESTED BY THE SCRIBES & PHARISEES 8:3-6a

The men who had been sent to arrest Jesus had returned empty-handed. So the __________ thinks up another scheme to get Jesus ________.

IV. JESUS TESTS THE SCRIBES & PHARISEES 8:6b-8

By writing with His finger on the ground, was Jesus reminding them of how the ____ was also written by the “finger of God?”  Exodus 31:18

Was Jesus writing down the Ten Commandments, reminding them that they were law _______ too, just like this woman?

Christ was here stating that these would-be accusers were not ________ to demand the _________ of the _____ sentence.

If Christ was indeed writing down the ten commandments again a second time, could it be that He was giving more than a hint of how He would _____ those who were, by the law, _________ to death?

V. JESUS WINS THE TEST 8:9

These proud self-righteous scribes and Pharisees had the spotlight of God’s ________ directed to their ______.

Not a word had Christ uttered against the ____. In no way did he condone the woman’s ____.

Unable to find any ground on which to ______ Christ, and convicted in their own consciences, they began to ______ one by one.

These scribes and Pharisees had challenged Christ from the law. He met them on their own ground, and ________ them by the law.

VI. JESUS SETS THE WOMAN FREE WITH A WARNING 8:10-11

Not a single witness was left to _______ against this woman, who had been accused of committing adultery. Thus the ____ was powerless to touch her.

The righteous ground on which Jesus could say neither do I condemn you, was that in a short time He was going to be “_________,” in her place.

The righteous demands of the law would be met, not in this sinful woman who ________ death, but in the _______ Savior who did not.

For the ________ the words of Christ, “I do not condemn you,” is not a license to ____.
