John 14:1-11 
JOHN 14:1-11
Jesus Comforts His Disciples

I. JESUS EXHORTS HIS DISCIPLES TO BELIEVE IN THE FATHER AND IN HIM 14:1

Let not your heart (kardia – the seat of a man’s conscience. It is with the heart we _______) be troubled (tarassō – to be agitated, thrown into a state of confusion and perplexity. It is a present imperative and therefore a continual _______).

How we see the _______ love of the Savior for those He loves! Though He Himself was troubled in spirit as He faced going to the cross, His concern was for His _______ and not Himself.

Jesus knows that in a matter of hours, when he dies on the cross and is buried, the ______ of the disciples will be __________ even more.

Jesus also knows that the only remedy for the troubled hearts of the disciples, is the assurance that He is ____, and will conquer death and the grave, and remain their _______.

II. JESUS TEACHES ABOUT HEAVEN AND PROMISES TO COME AGAIN FOR HIS DISCIPLES 14:2-3

Jesus was __________ the disciples, who dreaded to think their Lord would leave them. He assured them that His going away to the Father’s house had as its purpose - a _______, and was not a permanent separation.

Apart from Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension, there would be no place in _______ for any of God’s _______.

III. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN 14:4-6

IV. JESUS AND THE FATHER ARE ONE 14:7-9

If the disciples truly understood who Jesus was they would have known that He and the Father were of the same _______, that they were one.

Most likely Philip with his _______ eyes wanted to see a visible manifestation of the Father’s glory, such as had been granted to Moses, and other believers in the old dispensation.

V. JESUS ADMONISHES HIS DISCIPLES TO BELIEVE WHAT HE SAYS 14:10-11
