Genesis 1:14-19

Genesis 1:14-19

Day Four of Creation

Part 1

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the sky to separate between the day and between the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the sky to give light upon the earth. And it was so. And God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night; and He made the stars also.

And God set them in the firmament of the sky to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate between the light and between the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

On day four, God created light-givers, light-generators, (the sun, moon and stars) to replace the light He created on day one. This act of God served the same function of separating day from night, as well as determining seasons, days, and years and being signs for navigation.

The sheer size, complexity, splendor, and massive number of these light-givers all reveal the power, wisdom, and glory of the Creator of the universe.

Psalm 19:1-6 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.

Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider the heavens You made with Your hands, the moon and the stars You created, I wonder, what is man that You are mindful of him and the sons of men that you even notice them?

No one really believes such intricate design and complexity of the light-givers in outer space is the product of an accidental or random chance. No,  without a doubt, they reflect the work of an infinitely brilliant mind, a Master Designer, who created them, set them in their proper place and started them in motion. Only a fool would deny this.

The Scripture clearly says that the universe is the product of the mind of God. To conclude otherwise is sheer intellectual suicide and the result of spiritual depravity.

Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.

Out of nothing (ex-nihlo), God accomplished His creative work by divine fiat (by divine decree). Then God said, Let there be lights in the firmament...and it was so.

There was no process and no passage of time. God, by His command, created these light-generators instantaneously, (fully developed & fully functional).

Creation is not a process God initiated; it is something God completed. He literally spoke it into existence.

Psalm 33:6-9 The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of Him. For when He spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.

The moon, the sun, the stars, and countless galaxies were created by God fully developed and fully functional on the day He created them and they still function today as He designed and created them.

On the first day, when God said: “Let there be light”, the Hebrew word ore is used. On the fourth day, when God said “Let there be lights”, the Hebrew word ma-ore (light-givers) is used. Intrinsic light is created first and then replaced with generators of light on day four.

The duration of the days and nights under both systems was the same, evening and morning one day or a 24 hr-period of time. In other words the light of the first three days was shining on the earth as it rotated on its axis as light-givers shined on day four and following.

It was just as easy for God to create waves of light energy as it was to create light- generators that immediately penetrated through space to earth upon creation. It therefore did not take a billion years for the light from a star which is a billion light-years away from the earth to reach the earth after the star was created.

The light-trail from the star to the earth was created instantaneously the moment God created the star itself. God did not require millions of years to develop the light- generators He created into intended usable forms.

The purpose of the heavenly bodies of light was to give light upon the earth; so this is what they did the moment God created them. These light-bearing bodies were created by God to continuously shine their light on the earth at the proper intervals and seasons.

God gave the decree: And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the sky to separate between the day and between the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the sky to give light upon the earth. And it was so. Genesis 1:14-15

These light-givers that God created on day four were incredibly complex and one of the most wonderful acts of creation. The only reasonable explanation for these light-givers in our solar system is what we read in Scripture: “God set them in the firmament of the heavens.”

Scripture says that an understanding of this is actually inborn in every human heart: because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them (Romans 1:19).

The evolutionist (of any kind) has exchanged the truth of God for a lie…Professing to be wise, they have become fools.
