MARKS OF A CHURCH

THAT PLEASES GOD

Acts 2:40-47 

It is a church devoted to Missions and Evangelism.

vs 40 With many other words Peter warned them; and he pleaded with them to be saved from this corrupt generation (this sinful world).

It is a church whose members are Baptized Believers.

vs 41 Those who accepted Peter’s message were baptized (publicly declared their faith in Christ).

It is a church devoted to Sound Teaching.

vs 42a They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching.

It is a church devoted to Fellowship with other believers.

vs 42b They devoted themselves to fellowship.

It is a church devoted to Christ (Who He is and what He did on the cross and through His resurrection to save sinners).

vs 42c They devoted themselves to the breaking of bread.

It is a church devoted to Prayer.

vs 42d They devoted themselves to prayer.

It is a church that inspires the Awe of God.

vs 43a And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe.

It is a church that experiences the Miraculous.

vs 43b Many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 

It is a church devoted to Biblical Unity.

vs 44 And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common.

It is a church devoted to Sacrificial Giving.

vs 45 They were selling and sharing as anyone might have need.

It is a church that meets for Corporate Worship.

vs 46a They met for corporate worship in the temple.

It is a church devoted to joyful Hospitality.

vs 46b They were breaking bread from house to house, and taking their meals together.

It is a church committed to Small Group worship.

vs 47a With gladness and sincerity of heart they met house to house praising God.

It is a church that is Above Reproach in the community.

 vs 47b They were having favor with all the people.

It is a church that looks to God to add to their number such as should be saved.

 vs 47c And the Lord was adding to their number day by day such as should be saved.
